Historic Discovery by Webb Telescope
If the reader of this article is not fluent in the world of astrophysics, then they might not be familiar with the crowning achievement of human ingenuity which is that of NASA’s James Webb Telescope (JWST). For this reason, before this article goes any further, a brief history of the astronomical instrument will be provided for contextual purposes. To begin, one could say that the telescope is the child of the Hubble Telescope, going further than its predecessor ever could. Using infrared imaging to capture the earlier parts of the universe, what is now known as the JWST telescope was a tremendous milestone for engineers building the device at Northrop Grumman’s Facility in Redondo California back in 2019. Fully erected, the special JWST telescope was launched from an Ariane 5 Rocket from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana, South America. Unlike the Hubble Telescope, the JWST differs in that it orbits the sun at a distance one million miles away from Earth, in a region of space known as Lagrange Point, or simply L2. NASA’s James Webb Telescope was built with an highly ambitious goal in mind; one of the most challenging goals in order to answer some of life’s greatest questions such as if there is life in the universe, or other habitable planets in the known universe. The lofty goal that it’s designers had in mind was namely this: The James Webb Telescope was made with the overarching mission statement to…
