An unpopular opinion on angelology in new age spiritualism

To begin with, one has to acknowledge that spirituality is something that is seemingly both esoteric and ambiguous; a practice that varies on an individual level, making its murky waters all the more difficult to navigate. For the purpose of this article, it is essential to establish a working definition of spirituality in order to set the context for the content we will be working with. According to the Royal College of Psychiatrists, spirituality can be defined as the realization of a feeling, sense, or belief that there is something greater than the individual -a higher power- where there is more to this experience than sensory perception, and that the whole of which we are apart of is cosmic or divine in nature. Bearing this definition in mind, this article will examine the role of angelology in today’s movement of modern age spiritualism.

In this current epoch of human civilization, we see the topic of spirituality taking the front seat in many diversified communities, manifesting itself in endless different ways. For new age spiritualist, the leading conversation piece is that of ascension; how we as a people are entering into a period of tremendous spiritual growth, marked by a quantum shift in consciousness from 3D consciousness into 5D consciousness that bears many parallelisms with modern physics.
